What can I use to clean the rubber seal on my washing machine?

One of the easiest products to clean the rubber seal of a washing machine is a mix of vinegar, baking soda, and water. It is very effective in rubber seal cleaning and getting rid of any kind of dirt, grime, mould, or mildew on the door seal. Here is how you use it:

  • Take equal parts white vinegar and water in a bowl or a spray bottle. You can use this mixture as it is for cleaning the rubber door seal, or you can also add a few tablespoons of baking soda to the mixture. Baking soda helps with scrubbing and getting rid of unpleasant odours.
  • Dampen a cloth or sponge with the solution and thoroughly clean the rubber seal, ensuring you reach into any folds or crevices where dirt or mould may be present.
  • If you want to get rid of more stubborn stains or mould, you can make a paste using baking soda and water and apply it to the affected areas. Let it sit there for a few minutes, and then scrub with a brush or sponge.
  • Once you have thoroughly cleaned it, wipe down the rubber seal with a clean, damp cloth to remove any residue.

In order to keep your washing machine clean and the rubber seal clean and odor-free,  as well as to prevent the breeding of mould in it, here are some things that should be kept in mind.
  • Make sure to leave the washing machine door open when not in use to allow better air circulation and prevent the growth of mould and mildew.
  • Perform regular rubber seal cleaning to prevent the buildup of dirt and mould.
  • Check your washing machine's manual for any specific cleaning recommendations or warnings. You can also use professional cleansers specially designed for cleaning washing machines.
Always keep the rubber seal of your washing machine clean and free from mould or mildew to extend the life of the machine and to maintain a healthy and hygienic environment in your home.
